Quick Guide to Wall Decor Ideas – Tips and Suggestions to Contemporary Wall Decoration
Great wall decor ideas are often the simplest, painted or treated in some subtly textured form. The key to great wall decoration is to choose the right combination of color, light and texture, taking into account the complex effect of these variables with your furnishing.
One wall decor idea which is simple but gives great visual impact is plaster, trowelled or stucco. Stucco swirls are not easily achieved by the non-professional, but the effect is a dream on expanses of wall and a perfect backdrop to sophisticated texture and color.
However, walls are very personal and a surprising range of contemporary wall decor ideas work well within the same interior. Some suggestions are:
o Stripes – be it horizontal, vertical or slanted, they can be used to create optical interest. For example, broad stripes can make a room’s ceiling appear lower while narrow vertical stripes are elongating.
o Cladding – using materials such as fabric, wood and metal, you add a dimension to the wall that invites touch and reflects light in different and intriguing ways.
o Paint – ranging from solid colored feature wall to specialized paint effects to elaborate frescoes, one can always add interesting and personal touches.
o Wallpaper – choosing from traditional paper to contemporary vinyl to the expensive specialty wallpaper, one can create illusion with the interior space while covering hairline cracks on the wall.
o Tiles – a tried-and-tested formula for areas of heavy wear or maximum exposure to water and heat. It is usually recommended to tile an entire feature wall to add texture and dimension to the room.
o Stone – this is making a come-back though designers prefer to marry varied textures e.g. rough against grooved granite.
o Vinyl Text – take your favorite poem or quote and turn it into wall art with cut-out vinyl lettering.

Home Office Decorating Ideas
Have you recently started running a business from home? If so, you’ll now be at the stage where you’re looking for ideas on decorating your home office. To keep on working from home you need to feel motivated, so it’s important that your home office is somewhere that you are both comfortable and energized, a place which helps you to develop your ideas.
Most home offices are small, as you’ve probably only been able to afford to set aside a small amount of space for your business. For this reason, you’ll be loathe to crowd your home office with furniture. Essential furniture for small home offices of course includes a desk, a good quality office chair, and a bookcase. Many home offices will also contain a filing cabinet, though the amount of paperwork your office generates will depend on the nature of your home business. When arranging furniture in your office you’ll want to make sure it’s easy to clean and that your office work won’t be disrupted due to things getting lost. This is particularly important in a small home office where you need to be careful to avoid clutter. Decorating small home offices should therefore be approached in a simple and practical manner.
Practical decorating doesn’t have to be dull. Once you’ve finished arranging your office furniture, why not brighten your office up with some pictures? Office wall space can also be used for useful reference charts, maps and diagrams. If you receive visitors in your home office it can be useful to have sales figures on the walls to point at. Decorating your home office with artwork based on your business logo can help to make you feel positive about your office work and can make a good impression on visitors.
When decorating a small office, it’s important to think carefully about color and light. This is, after all, part of your home, and you want working in your home office to be a pleasant experience. A small office is never going to feel spacious, but pale colors, especially in furniture, can stop it from feeling claustrophobic, and the right style of furniture can make it feel attractively cozy. Pale wooden furniture is ideal for the small home office as it reflects plenty of light, but of course your choice of furniture will be limited by your budget and by what you can fit into your office space. Don’t be tempted to buy the first office furniture you find, but shop around until you find office furniture which is right for you. If your business goes well, you could be working from your home office for a long time, so you’ll need to be able to feel at home there.
Most importantly, your home office has to be the right place for you. Even on a small budget you can develop decorating ideas which bring out your own personality. Bookshelves are important in your home office for reference manuals, dictionaries and so forth, but there’s no reason why they can’t contain a few of you favorite books to help give you ideas when you’re finding it hard to concentrate on office work, and there’s no reason why you shouldn’t decorate your office furniture with a few ornaments and framed photographs. If there’s room in your home office for a small table or similar piece of furniture, standing a vase of fresh flowers on it will fill your home office with a pleasing scent which can help you to relax and focus on your office work.
Decorating your home office should be an exciting and positive step. It’s part of laying the foundations for your home business, and it’s a chance to put your creative ideas into practice.

Home Decorating – How to Find Great Ideas For Free!
One of the first things you want to keep in mind when searching for home decorating ideas is that your final vision will undergo a number of dynamic changes. Your vision will change as you come across new “undiscovered” decorating ideas, because there are new changes going on with home decorating all the time.
The following are some tips to help make home decoration fun and rewarding for you.
Finding ideas can be fun and easy:
The first thing you want to do is get yourself in the mindset that is open and receptive to receiving home decorating ideas. Here’s what I mean. You’re in a waiting room for the doctor or dentist and while skimming through a magazine some nifty ideas catch your eye. Another source comes from when driving around you see a home that sparks an idea. One more. While watching TV, whenever you can, try to check out the room or house that’s a back drop for a scene.
Another fun way for getting ideas is to spend a day or afternoon at a furniture store. Many of the stores displays will change often to show off what is new and trendy in home decor.
Surfing the Internet is one of the best places to get free ideas for decorating your home. You should be able to find sites that have in-depth explanations about different decorating designs along with ideas on how you can adopt these styles to your home. There are some sites that offer do-it-yourself guides with instructions for renovating and decorating your home or any part of your home. Getting this kind of information helps you realize your dream or vision for the kind of decorating or renovating you want to do.
Here are some ways you may want to help organize your ideas:
You may want to get a scrapbook and use both left and right pages for just one room. There are a few ways you can set this up. You could, for example, have the left page be the “before” and the right page the “after.”
Another idea is to get large poster board paper and use each poster as one room or one section you want to remodel or redecorate.
You also want to get in the habit of carrying a camera with you. When you see something while driving, it can take just a minute or two to capture that inspiring idea.
Getting your ideas and organizing them, sharing them with family and friends will make this remodeling experience very rewarding. Imagine how you will feel after the weeks or months of gathering your ideas and seeing them become a reality. Can you imagine how you will feel as you sit back and enjoy the changes that you have made, the changes that have improved your home and may even increase its value.
One final advice. If you are thinking of doing a major renovation or major home redecorating, you may want to just try one room to see how it goes. You can learn a lot from doing just one small project, and what you learn, may help doing the “major” home decorating project a whole lot easier.

Home Decorating Ideas For Small Home Owners
If you are the owner of a small home, it doesn’t mean you have to feel cramped and crowded. In fact, a small home can be just as warm and inviting as a larger home – particularly if you put these home decorating ideas to work for you.
The first thing you need to do with a smaller home is to get organized. While organization may not be the most exciting of the home decorating ideas you can explore, you will find that being organized helps you keep track of your belongings while also keeping your home less cluttered. Keeping your home free of clutter is important because clutter makes a home look smaller and, of course, it also makes it difficult to get around!
In addition to getting your home organized, other home decorating ideas for smaller homes involve getting rid of walls whenever possible. If you are prepared to do some renovations in your house, try knocking out walls between rooms so you can make the rooms appear larger and airier. A great place to take out a wall is between the dining room and the kitchen. This will open up the room while also helping to update your home.
Creative use of windows is also essential when it comes to home decorating ideas that make your home look bigger. By increasing the amount of lighting in your home, you will be able to fool the eye into thinking the space is bigger. You might not be able to afford putting in larger windows, but simply opening up the blinds or pulling back the curtains will allow the light to enter your home and reflect off of the walls to make your rooms look bigger.
